- Lens selection often drives selection
of a camera as well.
Whether you use a ZOOM lens or Pinhole Covert lens, the availability
of that particular CCTV product is sometimes subject to the ability
of a camera to support it's format. A mini camera is unlikely
to be using a zoom or a motorized lens, while a full sized C/CS
or Box style camera is unlikely to be using M12, M9 or other
mini lenses. There are adapters for special purpose cross format
lens matching however.

- Deciding on a focal length for your CCTV
Lens
The easiest way to determine which focal length you will need,
is by assuming a fixed width of view at a particular distance,
then applying to the format of imager used in the camera. lenscalculator.com has
a lens calculator which can take that information and provide
an estimated focal length for 1/3 lenses

- C or CS Lenses what is the difference?
Most modern Box or Body style CCTV cameras and lenses are generally
CS mount rather than C mount. With CS mount cameras both types
of lenses can be used but the C mount lens requires a 5mm ring
to be fitted between the camera and lens to achieve a focused
image. (Also, without this ring you may damage your ccd ) With
C mount cameras it is not possible to use CS mount lenses as
it is not physically possible to mount the lens close enough
to the CCD to achieve a focused image.
