- Dont TVs cost less?
- Typical TV (CRT) sets have a yellow (composite video) input
which can allow them to be connected to your video security system
or DVR. However, the image quality when viewing or reviewing
your security video will not be nearly as high a quality as a
good high resolution security monitor. Higher cost for CCTV monitors
is as a result of a better picture tube, which produces better
video. Having said that...
-
- Today's "HIGH DEF" TVs are getting closer to the
resolution seen in the average CCTV monitor, but are still not
designed for the continuous use the monitor sees on a daily basis.
If you have a high definition TV, and wish to use it to look
at your cameras from time to time, there isnt any good reason
you couldn't use one of the many video input ports usually provided,
but long term vieiwing is not recommended except with a monitor
that is designed for that purpose.
-
- Small Footprint monitors and mini LCDs
- Small Set-up monitors are great for adjusting your camera
view, but usually aren't good enough for a system view. Prices
have dropped considerably in the last few years on LCD monitors
and set up monitors, enough to have even the lowest budget CCTV
installer interested.
